My art is inspired by the beauty and colors of places I’ve traveled to. I try to capture the emotion of places and animals and bring inanimate objects to life.
I was a book designer and later an art director in publishing before transitioning to painting and writing full time. While on sabbatical in Paris I sketched dogs at the park. My drawings led to a story about a American dog who moves to Paris and wants to meet French dogs, but discovers they only speak French. It was actually my story. Paris-Chien: Adventures of an Expat Dog was followed Hudson in Provence and Hudson and the Puppy: Lost in Paris.
I live in Los Angeles now, and work from a skylit studio in my home overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I use gouache, watercolor, oil paints and oil pastels.
Paintings and prints are available here in My Shop, at Artfully Walls, Watson Kennedy, and Nest. Prints from the Paris Chien books are available here. Read an interview with me on The Artful Review. Contact: jackiemancuso [at] gmail [dot] com
